Due to the economic crisis and new competitors from Asia the chemical industry is under considerable strain.

Goal: Process innovation for large scale plants

Result: Optimization of large scale plants with cost reduction up to a level of 30% of the investment cost and/or variable cost.

Additional Quick-Wins: direct cost reduction about 10%.SS

Starting Point: The chemical processes of various large scale plants should be redesigned. Originally a reduction of the investment cost up to more than 25% was considered in order to guarantee the building of new plants. During the project the chemical process, the functional level and the device level were considered. Thereby the SIT method radically challenged the existing processes through a combination of ideas to reach the cost target.
